Although all of these ideas have been scrapped, I am still choosing to blog my initial ideas for my design project to show my creative process.

Before my idea of the interactive game using the Wii Remote technology, I had the following ideas for my design project:

  • Creating a brand for a youth centre (including posters, website, logo)
  • Creating an informative website
  • Creating an interactive Flash animation

·         like a barcode that is used for encoding information in two-dimensional space: magazines, advertisements, TV, websites

·         can embed information and trigger actions like launching a website or downloading a file

·         can be read from any angle (compared to barcodes wihch have to be aligned properly)

·         can be used to play an audio file, video, text, etc.

QR CODES FOR MARKETING

1.       virtual shopping aisle while waiting for the train: user will scan the item that they want. Items are then added to their cart and then delivered to their door without them having to carry heavy bags

2.       provide online or audio tours for further information

4.       promotions: free music, free benefits

PORTABILITY

iPads are too large to carry around. Maybe use sound/notifications as the main navigation system

Just researching more about the capabilities of iPads and trying to find more innovative uses for my app for Frock Paper scissors. the new thing that i have thought about is maybe using QR codes to help with the Geo-dashing “game” feature.

for example, frock paper scissors can locate QR codes around the city (or various locations) for users to find and scan, which will then lead them to their next destination(s) or give them a clue/coupon/website for particular clothing items, event invitations, etc. There are actually heaps of possibilities that the QR code reader can allow for…

i also did some research on marketing techniques that QR codes are used for nowadays. Links are as follows:
